I still don't know how to accomplish steps 3-5 so I might have to ask Trish!

Heres my try the only thing i couldnt do was the exposure. Would that have made much of a difference?

I think you did great. The exposure helps to lighten the dark and darken the light. It makes a small difference in a photo like this. Thanks for playing along.
