I was on the phone to my mom, Ana was playing in her play gym, and Cori was getting ready for a nap and picking out a story. It gets quiet in the house (too quiet....for those of you who have been through this age) so I call to Cori and ask what she is doing. No response. My house is not big, she can easily hear me. I yell again, no response. I start looking around and can't find her. Now I'm yelling and checking out weird places like the laundry room, under my bed, behind doors. I've hung up with my mom, who is probably freaking out too, and am hollering and running around. I open the front door and yell outside. I run to put on my shoes and as I'm heading outside I catch a glimpse of pink under the end table. She had stolen an english muffin off the counter and was curled into a tiny ball under the end table eating it. She could hear me and see me running around the whole time. AHHHH! At least I didn't call the police. My husband is on duty and would have heard the call come out and had a heart attack too.
What an event! Were you able to keep your cool when you found her? I can only imagine the huge mix of emotions. "Thank God you're ok" and "What are you doing?" all at the same time. I hope it didn't take too long for you to be able to call your mom back. I'm sure she was going crazy too.
I think Patty is right, she knew she shouldn't take food off the counter. I would have given her the muffin if she asked though. She may have also been avoiding her nap. It was hard to keep my cool when I found her....I just took her into her room and then went back in a few minutes later (after calling mom back) and talked to her about why I was upset. Its tough because she plays hide and seek with dh....and hiding is okay then. I did my best to explain that she scared me because I thought she was lost. Hopefully, she doesn't ever pull that stunt in public!
