Not just the random floating smiles that happen when they have gas, or they're sleeping (what are they dreaming about anyway?!?!?! I just can't remember when babies are supposed to interactively smile. when did your babies smile at you?

Alexa was around 4 weeks when she smiled, but at 6 weeks she was smiling and talking (well her version), and squealing on a regular basis.

I think 6 weeks is the general timeframe. Erin was 6 weeks exactly, lol. Patrick was earlier though. I want to say not quite 4 weeks. He's a smiler though, he's ALWAYS smiling!

Each baby is different but if your baby has their eyes open and you are talking to them or acting goofy and you get a smile it's real. Norah has different expressions for Gas but she smiles a lot while she's awake, and mommy or big brother Jon is talking to her. The boys were a little behind on smiling Nick didn't smile until 2 months, Jon was 6 wks.

kaetlin was around 7 weeks or 8 not sure when she smiled for the first time. Then a couple weeks went by and I could not get her to smile for anything . Now that is all she does is smile and talk ...

Thanks...I just know that my other boys seemed to smile earlier than Mr. Max is doing... and, I don't want to worry, I just don't know what's typical. I hope to see him grinning on purpose soon. I love gummy grins of newborns! He'll be 5 weeks on Tuesday!

Topher was probably about 6 weeks, but I should've taken better notes because I don't exactly remember.

I think that Cecil was closer to 7 or 8 weeks. Just after I started back to work.

I can't believe Max will be 5 weeks already!! Time is really flying by!

Makenna was about 5 or 6 weeks. I wasn't POSITIVE when it was REAL, so I marked it in her baby book as happening in July. By the end of July we KNEW it was real. (She was born 6/18.)
