Juliana spit up blood again earlier this week. I called the doc and he seems to be getting a bit worried. He said if she keeps it up, he will refer her to a specialist who will probably scope her. I assume that would mean putting her under . So, she did it again tonight!! She is perfectly fine otherwise...happy, thriving, etc. I want to figure out what is going on, but I'm totally scared about what they might need to do to her.

UPDATE: Our pediatrician spoke with a pediatric gastroenterologist who told him that a scope at this point would likely not show us anything. He recommended chest and abdominal xrays to rule out something structural. We did those today and they came back normal, so the ped is just going to put her on some Zantac (anacid) and something else that will coat her esophagus. We are going to try the meds for two months and see how it goes. Unless, of course, she bleeds much more or begins to act like she is in pain (then we would do the scope).
Thanks for your T&P!

Oh that is scary. I'm so sorry for you and her. It's natural to be afraid of what they might have to do with her.

When I was pregnant with Cora I was throwing up blood and at that point it was the WORST reflux pain I've ever felt. I hope she's not in too much pain.

She doesn't seem to be in any pain, which is why the docs haven't been concerned at all until now. That is also why she isn't medicated for her reflux.

OH Kelly, that does sound scary....Hugs for Juliana...Poor Little girl. I'm glad that she doesn't seem to be in much pain right now. I hope they can get her some help soon, and I hope she doesn't need anything that is very invasive.

Poor Juliana! I hope a specialist can figure out what's going on without too much discomfort for her (and you). I will keep you in our prayers. Keep us informed.
