Only a little over 2 months before Norah turns one, It feels like she was just born. My family is driving me nuts about the type of party to have her they want Disney Princess, I don't. So what did you ladies that have girls do for their first BD.
I still go around thinking, "Wow, I finally have a baby girl in my arms".
I had a hard time figuring out what to do for Juliana, because I think the princess stuff is a bit silly for a baby who doesn't understand it anyway. Cori definitely wants princesses now, though . Her first word was "kitty" and she just loves the cats, so I made kitty cupcakes. Nothing else really followed that theme, though, we just had a party.
Since the boys love PBS she perks up during Sesame Street, she seems to like Abby Cadabby. She's the first girl in over 40 years in DH family and 26 years in my family so everyone wants to go over board. With the boys Nick had homemade spiderman red velvet cup cakes, Jon had cupcakes also. Now I have to go all out with the boys, Nick is helping design and make his tractor cake(he'll be 6), Jon wants Transformer cake so he gets a bought cake this year(he'll be 5, 10 days after Norah turns one).
you don't really have to do a "character theme".....you could just do a color them.....pink for example, if she likes Sesame Street, or just Abby....maybe just gets cups or plates with them on it....even balloons....there is no need to have them on everything...it gets pricey !!! LOL
Katie LOVES Winnie the Pooh....I got plates with him on it,and the cakes... but just did the colors from the plates for table cloth, napkins cups from the local dollar store.
have fun with it and don't feel like EVERYTHING has to match perfectly
^ I did the same for Benjamin's 1st birthday. I did Thomas but I only did a few actual Thomas decorations, then I did everything else Red and Blue - his colors. It looked really nice. And yes, the dollar store has great party items with pretty much every color.
Don't stress the small stuff with the party......the main focus is Norah and she is enough
I love the abby idea maybe you can print off pics off the internet of her and make a collage background for some cupcakes that are decorated in different girl colors, yellow, pink, purple, green - cupcakes are great - easy to make and easy to serve.
