Her name was Kaya and she was an awesome dog. She was hit by a car last night and died instantly. I let her outside to go to the bathroom and she saw a cat and chased it. When she didn't come home a little bit later, I knew something had happened to her. Our 911 dispatch called me (travis was out playing golf with family) and I went and picked her up. It was terrible seeing her like that. I called travis and he came home and we burried her. I had saved her first toy we got her (it was a stuffed animal she distroyed - she carried around the fabric of the animal for months and months) and we burried her with it.
Travis got her for me for my birthday about 8 years ago. I went to our shelter to pick her out and I was just drawn to her. When I told Travis that I found the dog I wanted he was skeptical, but as soon as he saw her, he fell in love too. Over the years, she became Travis's side kick. I am torn up, but he is absolutly devistated. We cried together all night last night remembering our life with her. She was our first dog, and in some ways our first born. Cecil and Kaya had a special bond too....I know he will be looking for her today. He runs to her and kisses her everyday.
Some great things about Kaya was that she was an awesome jumping dog.....She could jump/climb a tree higher than my head, and if the tree had a low lying branch, she would jump up to the branch and try to climb the rest of the tree. She loved chasing squirls and going for fast walks. She was the laziest dog 90% of the time, but when she got going, she was soooo full of energy. It was either stop or gogogogogo with her.
I will really miss her and this just sucks so much....I wish we could redo yesterday and still have her with us.
Kaya and Cecil
Oh Sam....I'm so sorry....I know how hard this must be on you guys and how hard it will be to explain Cecil where Kaya is. I just want to give you tons of HUGS...
I know what you mean about Kaya being your first born, that's Maya for us, she's my first baby and in some way I think that makes it harder.
We are her for you, love you girl.
