Jacob's party is in January and I am looking for help in planning his party. I was hoping we would have moved by the time his party came and we could have it in our new home but we just took the house off the market for the winter so that wont be happening. I need somewhere to have his party and I don't really want a playcentre as my family all comes for the first birthday. I would like a place that adults will like and kids (I know impossible!)
I also need a theme. It seems like everyone in the winter does a winter wonderland theme and I'm not sure I want to do that. I had orginally wanted to do a jungle animal theme for his birthday, I have picked out some of the things and had his cake in my head but now I think it's not wintery enough.
I just saw this post and thought I'd give you a couple of ideas. I know you posted this a while ago...Did you think of anything? We have a number of parks with pavilions and some VFW posts (Veterans of Foreign War groups) that rent out party rooms. They're pretty inexpensive, and most of them let you bring in what you want. How about a Winter carnival theme? You could do games for the kids (simple carnival games like ring toss, knocking over the bowling pins, penny toss, etc...) and the adults can sit around and socialize. You could have some games for them...up to you. You can give every child a treat bag and let them collect candy and little prizes from the games they play. Older kids LOVE running the games, too. Saves you some work. If you don't want a winter theme, make it a beach party or a luau.
Just a few thoughts. If you already came up with an idea, I must have missed it. Good luck. Pictures of the party would be awesome! KUP

I think a jungle theme sounds great! having a jungle party in the winter can be fun and a little escape from the cold weather blues! As far as a location goes....do you have a resturant near-by that has a meeting room......that may work and is normally free if you eat a meal there. I can't wait to hear about his party! I hope you share pics
Thanks so much for all your help ladies! I really appreciate it. We are doing a winter animal theme - polar bears, penguins, seals, etc. instead of the jungle animal theme. This keeps it babyish but still in tune with the weather. I am looking into booking it at our local recreation centre. They have a kindergym party where they get to play for an hour in a patted gym type room (i went to look at it, it's really neat) and then 1 1/2 hours in a party room. And the best part - it's actually really cheap! I'll let you know how it goes. I hate having a January baby, I'm trying to plan his party and do Christmas stuff at the same time. It's SO hard!
