Katie spiked a temp tonight of 101 and has a pink pinpoint rash on her shoulders, torso area....

she has not been eating much, but has been drinking more....
she has been however eating, yogurt,applesauce....I checked inside of her mouth tonight and it makes sense...she has the rash on her tongue!!

my poor baby....I am hoping to get her to the ped. tomorrow, if not, the ER...
Anyone else's lo's ever had this???

the more I read, it sounds like scarlet fever...or Roseola....

Dee,

Did the rash come on at the same time as the fever or after? Both my girls have had roseola. They say almost every kid gets it, but some aren't very symptomatic and some are. My girls spiked high fevers (103-104), then got the rash at least a day later. With Cori, I rushed her to ER because I freaked out. If Katie got the rash at the same time, then I would guess it is another virus, as lots of viruses cause fever and rash. Might want to take her to the ped, though. I wouldn't suspect scarlet fever unless her fever gets higher...I don't have experience with that one though. Hope she feels better soon. Roseola didn't make my girls feel too bad....they actually seemed fine besides the fever.

Kelly,

Thanks so much for the reply !!! It was strange....she was a little out of sorts for a day or 2, felt warm, but her cheeks were cool so I didnt think much of it it ( I wish I had).
The day of the rash is when I took her temp and it was 101. Next day, no fever, and rash was almost invisible. It never spread down, just shoulders to hips ( back and front).
I gave her motrin for fever, a warm bath with no soap,bubbles....and used hydrocortizone cream. She did not scratch though...
Very small pin point rash. She acted fine, a little quiet, not much of an appetite though.

I did not call the ped since she seemed better the next day. Now I am wondering if I should have anyway? I feel like a rotten mom !!
