Just a whine for today...something is wrong with my foot (2nd toe to be exact) - the pain started Monday but is now so bad I can't put any weight on it It's a little swollen and I now have an appt with a podiatrist to examine for stress fracture & a few other less common things, but that appt isn't until MONDAY....so meanwhile I'm hopping around on one foot and trying to figure out how I'll chase after a toddler for another 5 days like this!

Lara,

That's aweful. I'm sorry it is hurting you like that. Do you remember banging your toe or hurting it in any way? Can you put any weight on the HEEL of your foot?

Be super careful hopping on one foot, you don't want to fall and get MORE injured.

Here's to a super quick recovery for you. {{HUGS}}

thanks Sacha...no I can't recall banging it or anything - I'm going to the podiatrist instead of reg doc because I have had some pain in that toe/foot that started with pregnancy (and of course I assumed it was just from being pregnant) that comes & goes esp. when I walk barefoot...but this is def different and REALLY hurts, so maybe I did fracture it somehow? It's slightly swollen but not bruised....I can put weight on heel or side of foot, but it hurts even doing that.

I've definitely been taking my toes for granted because I never realized how much I needed them until I'm hopping around after Savannah

Well a little update - my reg doctor had a cancellation so I went for appt late yesterday because not only is my foot not better but I was in serious pain so i figured even if they couldn't do much for me at least i could get crutches.

My doctor seemed convinced it was a stress fracture at base of 2nd toe and sent me for x-rays...turns out I'd need a boot to immobilize my foot/toe regardless of whether I got crutches, so I opted for the full boot instead (which is HEAVY and hard to limp around in!) which I can use crutch-free...got the wrong pain meds b/c I forgot to mention I was still BF Savannah at night, so they're swapping those this afternoon....but then the x-ray came back this morning w/o any clear indication of a fracture so Dr wants me to see specialist on Monday anyway and hopefully he'll be able to figure out what's wrong.

I'll update again after that appt....until then I'll be dragging a boot around almost Igor style

I'm glad you got in sooner and have treatment now, even if you don't have answers yet. I'm also glad you were able to get the full boot...crutches simply would not work with a baby Savannh's age. I'll be thinking about you on Monday, I sure hope the specialist can give more answers!

Hey there! I am so sorry your toe is bothering you. It truly is amazing how incapacitating a toe can be. I hope they figure out what's up with the "piggy".

And, I have to tell you how absolutely adorable your little princess is...gorgeous.

Miss you!

Kelt

Lara,
Igor style... that made me chuckle.

I hope they get you some answers soon. Is it less painful with the boot on?

Hang in there girlie and keep us updated.

ok back with an update...of sorts...the specialist took more x-rays, said stress fractures are incredibly difficult to see initially after they happen (apparently what becomes visible is the healing process 4-6 weeks after the injury) so the negative x-ray from Friday apparently means nothing. But bad news is he thinks I have 2 different injuries going on he thinks he sees a fracture in the joint of my toe but is concerned there may be a tendon issue in the foot too....so long update made short: I go for an MRI on Friday, a follow up appt with the specialist on Monday and I'm stuck in this boot for at least another week...booo....

And Sacha, the boot has helped reduce the swelling somewhat...hasn't done much for the pain, but it at least allows me to walk more normally - when I was hobbling around hopping & walking on side of my foot earlier last week i was convinced i was going to end up breaking something new

Lara - Your MRI is today, right? I hope it goes/went well!! Only a few more days and then you'll hopefully know more about what is going on!

aww thanks Kelly - yeah it was late this afternoon...it was a lot harder than I thought to keep foot perfectly still for an hour. I would HATE to get one where you had to go in head first, I was lucky that the top part of me stayed out of the machine. Other than it was *freezing* (like 55 degrees cold) in the room with the machine, everything went fine.

I'll update everyone after my appt Mon AM on what the final verdict is on fracture/no fracture...
