I had to stay on my PIO until 12 weeks, and I had to stay on the folguard for the entire pregnancy. I could not wait to stop those injections lol, by 12 weeks my butt was killing me!

My RE actually told me that I can stop my progesterone @ 4 weeks.. Said that there is no evidence/studies showing that progesterone will effect either way after that stage. I was REALLY uncomfortable stopping and continued to take till 12 wks.

My son was conceived through IVF and the protocol I received was to stay on PIO shots and baby aspirin all through the first trimester. It was not fun. I started to develop lumps in my backside and got some sciatic pain from it but after having a previous m/c I didn't want to take a chance and just pushed through. I know there is research that goes both ways but we felt if something was known to possibly help and not harm we were going to try it.

Good luck either way! BTW, I had the PIO lumps until after delivery.

Everyone is different. Talk with your doctor to find out what is best for YOU. Just because something worked well for someone doesn't mean it will for you.

I conceived my child (which I am still pregnant with) through IVF and was actually involved in the study of the progesterone ring (similar to the Nuva ring for birth control.) I was able to discontinue use of the ring at 12 weeks and prior to that, I had been directed to stop the shots before I actually had my IVF procedure.

seems like all docs say different things. I would keep tryign to find out what your doc says. Its pretty stinky that they haven't gotten back to you!
