Hello all. I'm a newbie to this site hoping to get some advice on TTC my first child. I seem to be having some trouble readjusting after being on birth control. Before I went on the pill I had a monthly period. I had no side effects while on the pill, and took it for 8 years. I stopped taking it in May of this year, and my husband and I waited for about three months to start "trying." I've had three cycles since then (37 days, 40 days and 25 days), but now I am almost three months into my current cycle. I knew I probably wasn't ovulating, so I went to my doctor to ask about my irregular (and now non-existent) cycles. She told me she didn't want to put me on Clomid until I had been off the pill for a year, just to give my body plenty of time to readjust, and hopefully, avoid medication all together. I started doing some research and found out about Vitex (Chasteberry Tree) as an herbal supplement regulating women with similar problems. I started taking it 4 1/2 weeks ago, and I'm not entirely positive, but I may have ovulated three or four days ago (based on a possible positive ovulation test and my BBT temp. being higher than usual the past three mornings). But then today, I had just a little bit of spotting (implantation bleeding? new cycle starting? nothing at all?), so I don't know what in the world is going on, or what to think. That's all a really long story to say if there's anyone out there who had similar problems and would be willing to give me some advice, I'd appreciate it so much. I'm 26 and my husband and I are trying for our first, so we're definitely newbies to all of this. I'd love to find some natural ways (like the vitex) to get my body back on track so I don't have to get into all the medications and such unless I have to. We really don't have the money to go down that road at this point anyway. Please help! Any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks so much for your time.

Blessings,
Lilium

Sorry this is so late....

Are you still charting??? Did you test?? Did AF show??

I know for me vitex messed with my temps and I had spotting through out my cycle so it didn't help really.

I hope you have gotten or get good news very soon!

I'm still charting. I'm on day 20 and no temp. spike yet. I switched from straight up Vitex to Fertilaid, a prenatal vitamin with fertility enhancing herbs (Vitex, PABA, green tea, etc.). I also purchased a fertility monitor (Cue II) hoping to pinpoint my fertile time... if I even have one at the moment.... but the readings are so ambiguous, I have no idea what to think. I'm also taking Evening Primrose Oil to help with my CM. I've been off the pill for 7 months now and would be thrilled just to have a normal cycle again, even if it takes us a few months to get pregnant. I'm totally discouraged right now. I feel like my body is never going to do what it is supposed to do again. I know being stressed out doesn't help, but then I stress out about the fact that I shouldn't be stressing out. I have no idea what is going on or what to do to make it better. I just wish I had some answers.

Why does your doc wanna put you on clomid without further testing? How can you be sure you are not ovulating? For the love of God don't get on drugs so easily. First make SURE you need them.....medcation is so easily handed out these days, makes you think how in the world the old ones were doing it without so many meds... I am scolding your doc not you of course Unless you omitted some detail, like you have PCOS or something.....Clomid needs facts to be given, not 'possibly anovulatory'........why not try natural first? Like exercise, eat well, sleep well, DTD often and stay off all the aforementioned concoctions.....you may find that your body is working just fine with no help at all.........

It took me and my DH 14 months to conceive and I wasn't coming off of the pill or anything. My most recent doctor told me it could take an average of 15 months for the average couple to conceive...although I would take anything she said with a grain of salt since she also told me that I couldn't get pregnant this cycle from only BDing the day I got my positive OPK but we did!!! If you don't have a lot of CM normally you can try Pre-Seed. It's a sperm friendly lubricant. I also bought FertiliTea. Although you'd have to be careful if you got that because it also has some of the herbs in it that you're already taking. Good luck hun and I hope you get a normal cycle soon and a BFP soon too!!!
