I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome about 10 years ago and now the docs think I might have crohn's. I am currently ttc but was interested in finding out if any of you expecting moms out there are dealing with this during your pregnancy (and how you're safely managing the symptoms?).

Thanks so much for your help!

i was diagnosed two years ago with xemiche colotis. That might be misspelled. Basically, it is very rare for someone my age to have this. Alot like chrones, but more deadlier. Part of my lower colon has already died, and have lots of ulcers in the reast. I have been to many doctors and have stableized since last year. I just became pregnant this month, and had a very bad day this weekend. I have not had an attack like that in over one year. Hoping it was a fluke and not caused by the preg. hormones. I will see my doctor later next month, and just keep an eye on it. I have to eat a very low residue diet. My system just does not break down properly regular food. But none of this would stop me from having a baby. Just have to be careful and make wise decisions. Good luck to you

I am so sorry you are sick! I was also very sick this weekend and still am . I'm encouraged that you aren't letting this stop you from having a baby! I wish you the best!

I've had pretty severe IBS for the last 3-4 years and right before I got pregnant, it improved greatly to the point of no supplements, etc. so my experience might be different than someone with active IBS.

I'm finding that either the pre-natal or the pregnancy hormones causes constipation. Before pregnancy, a few days of constipation would lead to a painful attack - however, I'm not having any attacks in pregnancy - just the constipation part of it - which is normal for those who don't suffer from IBS.
