My fertility dr. has scheduled me for a HSG test (Hysterosalipingogram). It is the one where they put a dye into your uterus and fallopian tubes to look for problems. Me and DH have been trying on and off for alomst 2 years for a baby and we just started seeing a fertility dr.

I have read online about this test and am really nervous. Is it really a big risky thing? Or no big deal? Has anyone here done it? Did it hurt or was it just uncomfortable? Did you get an infection afterwards?

I have also read that some people get pregnant soon after because it clears out your tubes. Has anyone gotton pregnant soon after this test?

I had an HSG about a year ago. I'll be honest, it was pretty uncomfortable and I did cramp and spot afterwards but it wasn't unbearable. It didn't take very long either. I did get pregnant soon after as well and now have an almost 3 month old.

I had mine done in July. I had really bad cramps during and for about an hour after but other wise it was not bad. It was only about a 5 minute deal. My fertility DR put me on a 2 day dose of an antibiotic so I did not get an infection. I was also told to take pain pills an hour before the HSG.

I was very nervous about this but it was not as bad as I thought. And it was great to know that my tubes were open and that was not why we were not getting pg. I felt it was best to do this test before starting anything else.

I had one done also. It was pretty crampy feeling but not that bad at all. I'm an xray tech and Ive done the test with Dr's so I knew what to expect so I guess that helped too. I have heard that the 3 months after the test is a good window for getting pregnant becuase they open everything up pretty much with the dye! I had mine in Oct of 07 and got Pregnant in March of 08. It is a good test to find out if you have any blockages. Good luck!

I had one done. It was uncomfy..... and I cramped afterwards but that was it.

Both my tubes were blocked.

i got pregnant within days of getting my HSG done!

I had one done in Janurary. It hurts, however, I got pregnant right after having it done (within a week or two). Good luck!
