Are there any legit typing jobs that you can do from home to earn extra income?

Check out Work at Home Jobs: Free Legitimate Work From Home Job Opportunities under general transcription. There are a ton of places there. SpeakWrite: Voice to Document Dictation Service and tiger fish are both legit among many others. All of the sites listed on rat race are legit WAH jobs. You will be hard pressed to find typing (transcription) jobs though that are actual jobs, as in you are an employee. Most are independent contractor positions and most require at least 2 years of transcription as well as WAH experience.
I've done transcription work at home for 4 years now and done transcription work in general for over 7.
Good luck!

There are data entry jobs that are legit, but finding one may be easier said than done. And pure typing jobs may not pay all that much. Why don’t you consider something like medical transcription? The job involves transcribing taped doctor dictations into ready to use text formats. It may sound like a typical typing job, but there’s a lot more to medical transcription than keyboarding. You need to have excellent grammar, language, editing and proof reading skills for this job. You should also have a thorough knowledge of medical terminology. The only way to learn all these skills is by completing medical transcription training from a career school!

You can also do insurance or legal transcription, neither of which typically require going to a specialized school to do.

I am a medical transcriptionist, and I make decent money from home. Training is required, but it is well worth it. Check out this website for more information about what I do and answers to FAQ.
