I'm kind of curious as to how people handle working frm home and raising children. I've been telecommuting for three years now and I love it, but I have no idea how to handle it once I have a baby. My company requires childcare for telecommuters, and putting a baby in daycare while I'm home all day seems strange to me. I am clueless about kids in general, so what are my other options? I doubt we could afford a nanny, although who knows. Help! I want to keep my job and make my future baby happy as well!
Not sure a company can REQUIRE you to put your child in childcare, so that may be something you want to look into.
Secondly, you don't necessarily have to do DAYCARE, you could see if a college student or "mother's helper" could come and help (or depending on the hours a high school student).
Personally, I worked from home for a little over 5 years, and I've never had someone else care for my child since I've been working from home. And, my friend has 6 kids, 3 of which are under the age of 4 and she does not have anyone taking care of hers either and she also works from home. Like anything else, you get into a groove, and make it work.
It may help to know what you do to give suggestions.
