I'm trying to think of a business idea. How does this one sound? Parents can log in and post messages about city-specific interests and parenting. Any opinions?

Forgive my complete ignorance, but how would it make you money-- through ads?

It sounds like a good idea-- experienced moms could share their ideasediatricians, places to shop, baby-friendly(and wallet friendly) outings, which library programs are good, local places to host kiddie parties...

Thanks for responding to my truly vague post! And yes, (you understood me perfectly) I'm thinking of trying to make some extra money by ads. The website would be a local message board that would be divided into topics such as education, fun in the sun, medical, moms only, dads only, lgtb parents, etc. I was even thinking of having a space where parents can review schools, churches, activities, restaurants, hospitals, etc. all specific to my city and which places are the most parent and kid-friendly. Advertising might make some spare $. If it gets enough traffic.

What do you think? How about marketing the website? I'm thinking free places like craigslist and such. Maybe even mobile advertising using just the website name.

I figure this might be an easy way to make some small change. Plus, I know for myself as a new mom, I wish I knew other moms in the city that could recommend a oood doctor or even an infant-friendly church. Know what I mean?

Thanks again for the input! And Alice, I've dropped in here once in a while and although mommy businesses doesn't get too much action, I have noticed thatyou are always there for support and ideas! You must love your mommy business! Thanks again for being our inpiration!

Lol so are you kind of wanting to do a review type of website but with actual people messaging back and forth? That seems sorta risky its all opinions and you might get a few fights. But it is a good idea. I am not sure how to make money off of the ad's though. I think that patty or teresa would be good people to talk to about that!

You know I mentioned this to my hubby last night and although he thinks the website is a great idea, he thinks theirs a risk of slander. Aargh. So there's still a bit of research left to do. Anyway, I pm Patty(nthemoos) for any advice so hopefully she can shed some light on my website venture!

Thanks
