to the baby sleeping alone! I think so, anyway. Our latest thing is that Sally wants to lay down to sleep now, not sleep in arms or the sling or on the boppy. And if I lay down with her awake in the bed, she will fall asleep. I'm hoping that someday this little routine will happen without Mommy laying down too, but for the moment, I'm catching up on some much needed sleep. Yay!

One question for you ladies - is 5 months too old to get a crib mobile or something interesting for the crib? She still doesn't like it (maybe it looks like a kiddie prison to her after all this time sleeping in the mommy/daddy bed), so I was thinking maybe we should make it a more fun place to be. However, when I read a bunch of mobile reviews at Target everyone was talking about their kids growing out of them at 6-7 months, so I don't want to spend the money if that's the case.

Yay for getting some sleep without baby! I try for at least a little while with no kids at night- though it is usually only about an hour . I would still get her something for the crib. The only reason a baby should outgrow a mobile is because they can stand up and yank on it...until then you are safe. However, you might want to consider getting something like the Ocean Wonders Aquarium.

We used one similar to this (previous generation) until DS was about 2. It attaches to the side of the crib, and when the child is older, they can turn it on and off themselves. This one even has a remote! so you could activate it from the doorway, which might help Sally to soothe herself better.

I couldn't tell ya hun...we use an Amby bed - it's a hammock type thing & you can't do a mobile or anything else with it. Jonah does like his shadow lamp - the ones that cast pictures all over the walls & spin from the heat of the light bulb...

He still falls asleep normally while nursing & I just put him in there. I feel like a dork - I have no desire to have him fall asleep on his own yet.... I just want to hold him. I agree though on needing sleep - my biggest problem now is what time he goes down more than anything... I am awake now because I put him down too early & fell asleep WITH him in my bed & now guess who is up???????

We've got a mobile and the previous aquarium (the new one Laura posted is MUCH cuter!). Alex likes them both. The mobile we got is also from the aquarium line and once we're done with it as a mobile, it can sit on a table top and still project onto the ceiling like it does as a mobile. They've both been handy on the nights when Alex wakes up just to play.
