Because she just can't poop! Sally's got her 6 month appt next week, and I need to ask the doctor what to do. Is it possible for their digestive systems not to be ready at six months? It doesn't seem to matter how little or what we feed her, we literally spend hours with her straining and grunting and crying until she finally goes. I figure why bother if we can safely delay solids. Unless this is inevitable and we just need to wait it out. Help, btdt moms!
Oh, poor Sally (and poor momma!). Honestly, I'm a BTDT but it was so long ago I feel like a first time mom again. We're just getting ready to start solids, after today's 6 month check up. I'll try to remember to ask what to do for constipation and will let you know what they say.
Do not sorrow; the joy of the Lord is your strength." Neh. 8:10
Okay, we had some problems with constipation with Nick. He's been on solids since 4 months. What I did for him is give him a little bit of prune juice mixed with water. I have also fed him pears, prunes and pear juice mixed with water. I still give him pear juice just to keep things flowing. No matter what age they are, their system is going to have to slowly get used to the solids and that's why they tell you to try only one thing at a time (also for allergies, but there are many reasons) and some things may constipate and some may cause runny poop. If she wont take a bottle, then just try feeding her a little bit of the pears or prunes on a spoon. I think those two jars actually taste good (especially prunes) or you can also find plums which are great too.
