this is kaydens birth story. ( my first )
Kayden was born June 28 right on his due date.
The night before we watched a movie, and didn't finish it because we thought we should start catching up on sleep . We figured he would come in the next week or two,( both my sisters were late with htheir children)
I woke up that night at one oclock with a bad gutache.( I was used to this becasue I have IBS) after 45min on the toilet I realized that I might also be having contrations. Then they came fast and fierce. My husband walked in at 2 oclock, and asked me what I was doing on my hands and knees. I said I don't know, I think I might be in labour. My husband then started running around getting things ready. I would scream for him to come whenever a contrtion hit me. I said can you help me in the shower. The shower only lasted 5 mins because I just felt I had to go to the hospital. The contration we coming about every minute and a half very strong but only lasting 30 secs or so. In between contrations I would says no lets stay home, I don'twant tobe sent home. As soon as a contraction came, I knw I had to get there. At three oclock ( two hours after I woke up, and hour after thinking I might be in labour ) we went to the hospital. The drive is normally only a 7 minute drive, but my husband ran all the red lights and made it in 5. 9 its was the middle on the night) When we got to the hospital it took 10 min just to ge tto the ward, because we had to keep stopping in the middle of the hallway becasue of the contrations. ( embarassing )When we got there the nurse asked me if I was in labour, and I said I think so. A man walking by burst out laughing It was very busy so she jsut pointed to the room I was to go to. We were in the room for 5 mins when I told my husband call the nurse I have to push. The nurse finally came and checked me. I was 8 or 9cm. I was soooo happy. i am very impatient person and I don't think I could have handled it if they told me I was only 2 or 3cm. they were all bustling about getting me into bed, call doc etc. I used the gas alot, when the doc arrived he told me I had to wait to push until he got changed ( he had already delivered two of my friends babies that night I couldnt wait so I started it was about 4 oclock then. The do then broke my water. And all of a sudden the contrations stopped the moment they said I could push, they were very weak like they were only on one side of my belly. I was still ushing but my bosy was hardly helping me, I was very tired. At 5 they started a drip t get me going, it helped a bit. Then the doc gave me an episiotomy because he thought I would need forceps becaseu I was sooo tired. My sister had forceps with her first and she bleed sooo much, I was terrified. It must have gave me strength. I saw those forceps and in two pushes, I delivered my 8 pd 7 oz baby boy at 5:57, fours hours and 57 min after I woke up with a tummy ache.
The reason I think it all went so fast was First, I was huge, and all that weight prssing down has got to do something. In the last four weeks quite often I felt pains tha tI can only describe as him trying to claw his way out the bottom, it would stop me midstep.
This is the best I can do 12:16 at night (can't sleep ) One year after having him.
Ps I am expecting my second in April 2009
