Thursday April 21st, I had an appointment and when they checked for my amniotic fluid it was dangerously low. They decided to induce and we arrived at the hospital that night at 9:00pm. By the time I got settle in they started Cervidil at 10:00pm. At first the contractions weren't too bad but by 12:00 pm I was definitely in pain. Aparently the Cervidil was so strong I had contractions back to back and one lasted about 2 or 3 minutes. Around 4:00 am I got my epidural (I was 3 cm) and I was in heaven. Problem was the baby wasn't.
The contractions were so strong and so close together that her heart rate was dropping. After monitoring for over an hour and not getting better we decided on a c-section. She was born April 22 at 6:48am
She is absolutely perfect and I'm glad I didn't hesitate with the c-section. She had already pooped inside (I forget the term) and the little amnionic fluid I had left was stained. Thankfully she is perfect. She didn't need any intervention of any kind and cried like a champ.
She weighs 6 lbs 7 oz.
Recovery of course is a bit longer than with natural birth but is not that bad really. I just take things slow. I was walking by the next day a bit hunched over but now I am fine.
The staff at the hospital was awesome, a pediatrician checked on her at least 4 times during those 3 days, the nurses would check on me every hour even at night. Even if just to take a peek and make sure I was ok.
