Ok Ok I am FINALLY posting his birth story! Here it goes:
On May 2nd about 4:00pm I had a routine doctors appointment, it was actually my 37 week appointment. She came in we joked around she took my blood pressure and it was fine and weighed me, I weighed 156! She measured my belly and that was all great and on target. She then put the Doppler on my tummy to get baby's heart beat, it was beating a bit fast for my comfort, but I just laid there and looked at my doctor's worried face. She then tells me "Please hang on Rachel I need to grab some new batteries." She left the room and came back less than 2minutes later. She then tells me Michael's heart beat was in the high 180's, so she wanted to see if it was her batteries in the Doppler. She then tries again and it is still in the high 180's. I start to freak out. She asks me how many times has the baby moved today and I told her not much, which I thought was normal because of less room in there. She then tells me she is going to send me for a NST just to be sure everything is ok, she kept telling me she thought everything was ok but she wanted to be safe.
I go home and get the kids ready and we head to the hospital for the NST. We get there about 6pm (after feeding the kids before we went among other things). They hook me up and Michael's heart rate was staying in the 170's. The nurse told me they like to see it no higher than 160's. I was hooked up for about 45minutes, then an ultrasound tech came in and started doing her work. The ultrasound lasted about 30minutes, but seemed like two hours. The ultrasound lady kept trying to get Michael to move. Well she took the measurements and stuff and I saw on the screen it said he weighed 6lbs 3oz. The ultrasound lady leaves (she wasn’t allowed to answer my questions). The nurse comes back in and says, “Well we like babies to score 6 out of 8 on the ultrasound procedure, and your baby scored 5 of 8. She then proceeds to tell me I am being admitted and Michael would be delivered that night via emergency c-section. She also stressed to me that he might not be able to come home because they don’t know what we were going to be expecting when he arrived.
This automatically shot me in to panic mode and I started bawling my eyes out, they made it seem like the WORST was going to happen. So after I got all worked up and upset all of a sudden I start getting hit with contractions…out of no where! I hadn’t had ANY contractions all day until they told me that and I got upset. Well another nurse comes in and says let’s go to an L&D room, so she starts rushing me and made me walk fast as he** and I was contracting big time, and she wasn’t even waiting for my DH (he had to get all of our stuff in the room where we were getting the NST done, plus he had to get our 17month old), so I told her “You need to WAIT!” (Lol,).
So we get in the L&D room and they get me all hooked up (I already had an IV in from the NST, the put the IV in to give me fluids to see if the baby’s heart rate would get lower, didn’t work I guess). So I was 5cm dilated by then and the nurse wanted to wait to administer the pitocin. I think I was dilated to about 8cm before they finally did the pitocin. I did get an epidural as well. Finally it was about 12:00am and the nurse checked me and I was 9cm dilated and she told me that in 30minutes they’ll be back and we would be having a baby. About two minutes after she got out of the room, I felt intense pressure down below, it actually made me cry a bit (yes I am a wuss lol). DH paged the nurse and she comes in and checks me and her eyes get huge, she pages the doctor and tells the doc to come on in we were ready to have a baby NOW! Doc comes in and everyone does their business, a few pushed later baby Michael Cristopher was born at 12:13am on May 3rd! We were able to leave the hospital 19hours after Michael was born, we were able to leave the hospital because the pediatrician said he was ok to go! (Plus we had other drama with the hospital and we were ready to leave)
Besides the few bad parts and a scare it was a beautiful experience! Sorry this was so long!
