I went in for my induction at 5:30 am on the 24th and they finally got the pitocin hooked up to me about 6:30 am. I didn't feel much for quite some time so they kept coming in every so often and turning it up some. When my contractions were finally hurting me just a little it was about 9:00 and they told me since I was 3 to 4 cm then I could have my epidural. Well, I decided to go ahead and get it because if I didn't, they might not be able to get to me later because of all the c-sections they had scheduled for that day.
Well, everything went really smoothly and I decided to try and get some sleep because around 12:00 I was only 5 cm. When I was getting really relaxed and about to fall asleep I was watching the monitors and noticed that the baby's heartbeat was going up and down a lot and I felt like I needed to poop. The nurse came in about 12:40 and said that I was 9 cm and so she called the doc and told me that I could probably start pushing around 1:00.
The doc comes in and they tell me that I need to start pushing and try to get the baby out soon because of his heart rate and they also called the NICU in, just in case. They said if I couldn't get him out pretty quickly they would suction him out. Well, the baby decided to cooperate and came out really quickly because I only had to push for about 10 minutes. My husband was so shocked by the whole experience and was probably about a couple feet away from me when I was pushing. OH WELL!!
