So I know you ladies didnt' have much information with Meg being evacuated etc, so here is the full birth story.

We had our final appointment with the perinatologist on Monday at 8am they did one last ultrasound and the dialation was still there and bilateral. So I am sitting in the waiting room with DH, my mom and step-dad and MIL, ALL of them from out of town and the perinatologist says, well maybe we won't induce you today...Ummm...WHAT?!!! Well he decides to "discuss" the situation with my midwife (which if many of you remember I had had a bad experience with a couple weeks before) So I am thinking for sure they are going to cancel and send me home, and all the while I am scared for my baby and his kidneys.... well much to my suprise and amazement, my midwife supported the decision to induce and as she was going to be on call that day and the following day she offered to try the induction and if nothing happend by the end of her shift on Tuesday they would send me home to wait things out a bit.

So 9 am they check me into L&D, I get dressed in my lovely gown, the midwife comes in and explains the induction medication and how they will insert a pill into my cervical area in 3 doses every 4 hours. They started the first dose at 10 am and the midwife felt that it wouldn't do much but get things started. Much to everyone's surprise
i started contracting within 2 hours of the first dose. So they postponed the second dose as they didn't think I would need it. So 5:30 comes along and they check my progress (at this point I was having contractions 3-4 minutes apart consistently, unfortunately they weren't strong enough and no progress had been made. Since i was still contracting well they held off on giving the second dose.

10pm I had FINALLY fallen asleep after having contractions for 10 hours and the night shift midwife comes in and tells me that my contractions have gotten too far apart and they are going to administer the second dose of medication. So they do and the contractions start up again and I am uncomfortable AGAIN. DH was sleeping the whole time because he wanted to be ready for later that night or early the next morning for the baby's arrival. So 5:45 am they check me again...STILL no progress.... The nurse told me the midwife was going to come in and discuss options with me on how to get things possibly progressing a little better. At this point I was unable to walk around any more as they wanted to monitor the contractions more closely so I was stuck in bed. At this point I started to cry... it had been 20 hours, no progress and i was SURE they were going to send me home later that day. So I layed back down and tried to go to sleep before the midwife came in...well at 6:00 I felt a really strong contraction coming on and grabbed the railing on the bed to brace myself, and that was when I heard a pop and felt a gush...HALLELUEAH my water had broken . The Midwife came in and said that was great news and would definately help with the dialation as the head is harder than the amniotic sack. So she said she wanted to start me on pitocin to intensify my contractions as they were very regular and close together, but they were just not strong enough to cause any cervical change. So at 7 am they hooked me up to the IV and started the pitocin.

OMG...the pain was so intense, and after contracting for 24 hours, with 3 hours on pitocin I begged for the epidural. I had wanted to do things naturally but could not handle the intense pain from the pitocin. So at 10 am I got the epidural and they began monitoring the baby a little closer because his heartrate had started to drop. The nurse rushed into the room and asked me to lay on my left side immediately and said the midwife was on her way. They had been watching my contractions and Frank's heart rate was dropping below 90 with my strong contractions, not a good sign, his heartrate dropped to 85 as the midwife came in, I was TERRIFIED. So the midwife inserted and internal monitor to get a better idea of how intense my contractions were as well as how the baby was handling them they stopped the pitocin for a little while to let Frank stabalize. At 2pm she came back in and said that his heartrate had improved and they were going to try the pitocin again at a higher dosage to get some adequate contractions as I had STILL not progressed passed 1 cm. This was when she started discussing the option of the c-section becoming more of a reality. With my water being broken I was at higher risk of infection, and even though the baby was doing better with the contractions, if I could not dialate they would have to deliver her that night. So they began the pitocin again gradually and at 4pm cranked it up to start the 2 hour test on my cervix. None of us were hopeful at this point, and I hadn't had anything to eat other than ice chips since 10 am as they wanted to make sure I was prepped for surgery. My mom and aunt had gone to get food for themselves, my MIL and DH. At 6:15 pm the midwife came in to check my cervix...her jaw literally dropped...she said well you are 100% effaced and 6cm dialated, you are going to be able to have this baby vaginally. I was soo excited. So she said it generallly takes an hour per cm after 6 so the baby would be arriving closer to 10 that night. DH called my mom who was on her way back with food to tell her the good news. She brought the food up and went to the waiting room to eat. At 6:45 I started feeling intense pressure even with the epidural, so I told DH...OMG..it feels like I have to poop...ummm...I need to push. He laughed and said stop it, I told him I was serious and to get the nurse and my mom. The nurse checked me right away and said...WOW you are ready to have this baby. I had dialted from 6-10 in less than 30 minutes. So the midwife comes in and checks as well and has me get ready to start pushing. They roll in the instrument cart my mom and DH brace my legs. For some reason my contractions had spaced out to 5 minutes apart, but they were twice as strong as most people's transition contractoins, so it took 45 minutes to push and then he was out 7:27 pm after almost 34 hours of labor and laying on my left hand side on oxygen for 10 hours. But hearing that cry for the first time made all the pain go away...

My placenta was in tact, however there were still fragments of my amniotic sac in my uterus and when my placenta had seperated from my uterus it had caused excess bleeding...so I was put on some contraction meds for 2 days to help keep the bleeding down. My blood work determined I was pretty anemic because of the delivery so I am now on some iron tablets. Frank did great. They found out as I delivered him that his umbilical cord was wrapped around his arm and he was holding on to it (he was always suckling on it in his ultrasound pics) like a security blanket, so his heartrate had been dropping when the oxygen was restricted from him holding onto his cord...but he is doing GREAT. Tiny little man of mine. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers and patience HAHAHA it was a long and rough ordeal but COMPLETELY worth it.
