Thanks Lindsay for updating for me! Heres my birth story!
Rylan Brady Prince was born on Thursday, October 18th 2007 weighing 6lbs 6ozs & measuring 18.5 inches.
As planned I went for my induction at 8am and after doing some traces and tests they started me off at about 10am. Initially the midwife tried to break my waters and was very heavy handed with me, I ended up fainting on the delivery table because off the dreadful internal she did on me, my poor DB, Bradley, was so scared he thought I was dying! I came around pretty quickly and was then given the pessaries to get things moving....I started having mild cramping about 12pm which was painful but bearable...I took a good walk around the hospital grounds and up and down the flights of stairs to get things moving.
I then used the birthing ball which was GREAT!! I highly recommend using these. My contractions started getting pretty painful after this and the registrar came in to break my waters...I was 3cm dilated....typically DH had gone off to the shop to buy something or other whilst this was happening.
Anyway my waters were broken at about 5pm and that is when things got pretty unbearable for me. I asked for an epidural but by the time they were ready to do one, I was already 8cm dilated and ready to push Rylan out! After 4 pushes he popped out into the midwife’s arms. He screamed his little head off, but settled down when he was placed on my chest.
It all happened so quickly....and I’m pretty proud to say I only had gas and air...although not from the want of asking for something stronger!
He is a little superstar; he has blond hair (brown at the back!) and gorgeous deep blue eyes. He is very alert and is already a little piggy feeding hourly. (I’m hoping it’ll get easier…)
I'll post a newborn shot when I have some more time...
