Are you going to do anything for your babysitter to get her to use sign to if they don't already? Are you going to ask them to be consistent with sign or just let them do it if they want to but not force it?

My babysitter is receptive to signing but forgets alot of times to do it because sebastian is the only baby learning sign. I am thinking about making her some flash cards with the words we are learning.

My babysitters are my MIL and my mother, so our situation is different I think LOL. I have asked them to learn signs, but that is because they are around Jonah so much that I want them to be able to understand and respond to the signs. I've made flashcards for everyone, as well as shown them signs I use a lot with him. My mom has been doing it, but MIL hasn't looked at anything yet (although she says she is really interested)

If we hire a babysitter outside of the family and Jonah is signing at that point, I will show her the meaning of signs he does, but I won't expect her (or him) to teach them.

How did you make the flash cards? Did you print out pics and glue them or draw them or explain them? I am trying to think of a good way to make them.

My dad has a copy machine for his small business, and I used it to make copies of illustrations in my favorite baby sign book. I copied the illustrations and explanations of each sign that I am currently using or that I plan on using in the next couple of months, then I cut them out and pasted them to blank index cards, used a sharpie to write which sign it is on the opposite side from the picture, then I took them to Kinkos and had them laminated. I made three sets. One for DH, one for my family, and one for his family. You can tell they aren't professional, but they get the job done!

I am wondering if any one has any new ideas for this, because we have been taking Jonah to an outside babysitter lately (outside of the family, I mean.) Jonah signs a LOT and I'd like for her to know what he is trying to communicate to her!
