btw, i am Janessa, with an amazing 17 month old named Joseph (Joey for short). he has been signing "please" for about 5 months now, and we have been slowly adding more...i am just trying to figure out more ideas now to teach him that he would use. Anyone have any ideas?
That's great! Joey is really polite to sign "please!" I have been trying to teach Jonah "please" but he just gets mad and starts signing "more" very angrily LOL
I've found it helpful to sign "change" for diaper change, and "potty" when he poops. Now he tells us when he has to go, or when he's going so we can take him to his potty and not deal with a yucky diaper. I think that's probably the best sign we've taught him!!! Some people find that this age is a good one to introduce "help" or "hurt" to. I usually just take my cues from Jonah as to what sign to add next. We just added "gorilla" because he has this stuffed gorilla that he is attached to, and it's helpful to know when he is having a meltdown just because he wants his gorilla. I also introduced the sign "book" to him when I noticed he kept wanting me to read to him.
