For those mommies who are new, or who are waiting for their little ones to sign back independently, I wanted to share this interesting little tidbit. I know it can get really frustrating, and it seems like you are signing for FORever before your child can produce a sign without being prompted.
I was talking to Jonah's speech pathologist last week about his not speaking. She told me not to get frustrated, and just keep talking to him about things over and over. She told me a neat little fact that I either hadn't heard before or I forgot. When a child is first learning language (anykind of language- signing or verbal) the child typically has to be exposed to the word 500 times before he can produce it on his own.
So I want to encourage you to just keep signing, no matter how many times you have to do it!!!!!

Thank You, Pattyandthemoos, for my beautiful siggy!
wow that is very interesting. I think that's why playing the signing time videos has really helped explode my daughters signing vocab. I highly recommend getting signing videos along with signing constantly to your child to help the process along.
