Although I don't have any babies, I came across your forum and it is very exciting to see so many people teaching their small children to sign. I teach preschool and teach all of the children basic signs. It has really helped one young boy to communicate his needs and wants. He is learning disabled and was unable to communicate anything at the first of the year. He now signs and is even speaking clearer. I understand some of that is from maturation, but I also think it has to do with him not getting frustrated when we couldn't understand what he needed.
Hope to see a lot more posts on the subject.
