My DD is almost 15 months and can sign: milk, more, all done, drink, and eat. What are a few more important signs that I can teach her? If you would like to share a website, that would be fantastic! TIA!

HI - we use 'Signing Time' series, you can watch them for 99 cents on Amazon, or buy them cheaply used. My daughter is 16 mos and she knows about 50 signs. her latest ones are Apple, Happy, and Wind. This is hugely affecting her speech development too, she is saying almost every word she signs, out of nowhere! I love signing.

You can always teach mommy, daddy, grandpa, grandma, sister, brother, etc.! They're pretty easy, DD used to correct me if I accidentally signed daddy but said mommy out loud- she can tell them apart even when I mix them up!

We use a lot of "daily use" items as our signing words. Milk, book, ball, help, please, thank you, more, eat/food, up, down, hi/bye, blanket, bear, bath, rock (yes, we taught the sign, lol.... the baby loves rocks), butterfly, flower, leaf, tree... you get the point. If it's something they see around them or might need to communicate about, we try to give them the signs to use. I don't usually focus on just one sign at a time, just use them any time the opportunity arises... so I'd probably just say pick something that you want the child to know, and go with it.

My 17 mo old daughter loves Baby Signing Time! You can watch for free on YouTube. Just search for baby signing time. The first one we watched was Eat & Drink. Before it was over she knew Baby, Eat , and Drink and now she knows all the signs. We've started Mom has a Mom this weekend so now she knows mom and dad and grandma and grandpa! She now knows at least 20 signs on addition to 40+ words. Highly recommend these videos! Also, you'll be able to see lots of other kids signing !

We always use "hugs" and "kisses". She is also familiar with "CR" or comfort room she just loves it when I told her that its okay to go inside now..lol she never gets inside without my permission.
