Hi everyone
I just joined, I was googling what a sign meant and stumbled on here
I have been teaching my 15 month old sign language since she was maybe 10 months, they teach her some at daycare, and for the past month we have been going once a week to a Kindermusik signing class. She's really only been using signs to communicate for the past month or two but she is really picking them up fast now!

My question is...she keeps doing what I think is a sign but I can't figure out what it means and she is Not a talker yet. She grabs her left wrist with her right hand and holds it, and just looks at me very intently. She will do it a few times in a row. Sometimes it almost seems like she is in pain, but she had a dr appt Friday and I asked them to check it out and the wrist is fine. Maybe it's something she made up, but I thought I would check.

I checked the book I have and didn't find it in there. Thanks !

I recall hearing somewhere that babies can sometimes make up their own signs, so maybe that's it.

Or do you do anything in your daily activities that involves grabbing your wrist or something that looks like that, and she's just trying to copy that?

My daughter who is almost a year and has been signing for about 6 months does that to sign "baby". She grabs her wrist and then rocks back and forth.

It's not eally a sign. Babies can make up their own signs, she could be meaning Hold? but ive never seen that sign before (i have a few Deaf friends and am interpreter as well)

the sign cracker is with a closed right fist, a bent left arm and you knock your right fist right above your elbow..so i dont really think that could be it
