Hi ladies. I am so happy to have found this board. I have been posting and following along in the DDC Jan 2010 and someone posted about this forum on here. Well, I am 15 weeks pregnant and recently left my job since we will be moving in the next few weeks to another town. About 5 years ago I stopped designing webpages as I got so busy with school. It was not until a little less than a year ago I got the urge to start doing it again. I figured I would practice and brush up and if it came back to me I would get myself my own domain. Then I hit a road block. I now own an Apple and had trouble writing and viewing my designs offline. I don't have a site to test things live and in the past would always write my code and then check it out in the browser offline but whenever I try to do that now I just get a blank page. I am at a total lost as to why this is happening. Any of you ladies have Apples and know why it is this might be happening. I ended up giving up months ago and just go through wordpress using their free blog service but all I can do is change the header and find that I am not having fun and would really like to get back into webdesign. Thank you ahead of time for any help you ladies can give me.
First let me welcome you to the board, Jenn....My name is Kassia...I work a 8-5 job as a webmaster and working towards my own business as a virtual assistant/web designer at night...
I wish I could give you more help with your issues, but I haven't really worked with an Apple in years...I do know that WordPress is very customizable, however, if you work with the CSS...LadyViola is an expert at using WordPress if you need some tips and tricks....
Are you good at doing codes on your own? Are you looking to you a CMS type programming or from your own ideas?
I have been told that WordPress is excelent for customizing. I just started using it myself, but LadyViola has more experience with it.
At work we use DotNetNuke, which our designers seem to love. The sites they say can be designed in Photoshop and easily transferred to a skin template. As webmaster they are easy to update on the frontend.
I will add a list of cms that you can try and see which is right for you.
