I am glad to here you solved your issue. I will still answer it for you. In order for you to save a file as a GIF, JPG, or PNG you need a graphic program that recognizes these types of files. If your computer only has Paint installed then it will only recognize Bitmap (BMP) files. There are several free programs online you can install that will allow you to save a variety file types. Below is a link to one of the posts that includes a list of graphic programs you can use. Let me know if this helps you all ok.
More Info: I did discover on exception to this. If you are trying to save a graphic file that is embedded in an email, then your file will only be saved in a BMP format.
Another Trick: There is a little trick you can also do. Sometimes you can save a file as BMP, but rename the file to the desired extension. All you need to do is locate the file, right click and select rename. I should allow you to change the name. If it allows you to do so, usually it will keep the animation entact.
