Content Management Systems (CMS) are software/systems that manages the content of a website. They allow you to update a website's content easily and smartly. What has made CMS popular is that it allows those who have no HTML or little HTML knowledge easily build a website. Usually there are a variety of modules or add-ons that can be easily installed and it also allows you easily update your site either from the front end or back end.

How to choose a CMS?
The best way to choose a CMS is to try them out for yourself. Install it, play around with it, add the plug-in/add-ons/modules, and uninstall it. Although many of these are free not all of them will be right for you. Testing them out is the only way you can discover which is best for you.
