I recently started a business with my friend and we bought a domain name and have a website hosted by merchant moms. We bought a template and the site we bought it from put it on for us. Now that being said we are very small WAHM business and we cannot afford to pay tons of money for someone to do it for us hence the reason we are trying to do it ourselves. I am totally lost and know nothing about maintaining any website. I had no idea what we were getting into. I have a couple of questions

1. Are there any books that you reccomend so I can learn to get our website up by myself

2. Is it wishful thinking that I can teach myself. I mean I really have no idea what I'm doing and I don't even know where to start

3. If it is really hard do you know of anyone that can show us how to get pictures on our website so we can start selling our products that wont charge $100/hour or more?

Thank you in advance for any tips and advice you have and are willing to offer.

Sorry I wasn't able to answer this for you sooner. I actually took a little time off because I was overwhelmed. I am more than sure your questions have been answered, but I felt the need to answer just in case I can still be of some help to you.

1. Are there any books that you reccomend so I can learn to get our website up by myself
Although I have many books, I don't recommend wasting your money. There are plenty of great website you can use that will be helpful in learning web design. I highly recommend W3Schools.com. This is like a Web Designers bible and many of the validations go by this.

2. Is it wishful thinking that I can teach myself. I mean I really have no idea what I'm doing and I don't even know where to start

Anyone can learn how to web design. It might be frustrating and time consuming at first, but I have taught myself and I am so glad I did. There are so many things to learn so you will never be bored at all and every web designer has their own specialty. I would give web designing a try.

3. If it is really hard do you know of anyone that can show us how to get pictures on our website so we can start selling our products that wont charge $100/hour or more?

I can definitely show you how. If you have AIM, MSN, or Yahoo Messenger send me an IM. I can take you step by step. My name for all three is kholmesvirtual (for MSN just add the @hotmail.com part)
