so I can concentrate more on freelance work. I've wanted to do this fopr a while, for a mixture of health, financial and just plain enjoyment reasons but I have been scared about taking the plunge. Now I have done it I am really looking forward to launching into a big redesign of our main site and taking on further work with my main client!

Congrats!! I hope it works out for you. I would love to do more freelance only, but personally I have continued to run into roadblocks. Basically with the people not doing the job. But I have a few friends that have been very successful at doing freelance. You help give the rest of us pointers.

Thanks! I'm nervous still about the decision I made but very excited also. I have one main client who I've been working with for many years now who I will be increasing my work with and will finally be in a position to advertise my services because i'll be available to work any time instead of just in school holidays!

Congratulations! I took the plunge a few years ago and haven't looked back. My husband and I both work from home and it sure makes life less stressful. Its nice not to have to worry about commuting and working for intellectually challenged managers.

LMAO: "Intellectually challenged managers"!!!!

Almost a year ago, I got fired (see above!) from a middle of the road job that I hated bc I wasn't being challenged (except for the above) enough. While I already had been working "on the side" with my business, my husband told me to just run with it and I've never looked back.

Oh, I've glanced in my rearview mirror when no money is coming in because it's the holidays and businesses just don't wanna spend money! But, overall, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you! I have one more week after this week (I'm on half term this week) and then I'm dropping to 6 hours a week and can launch properly on my freelance work! I feel like I've been in limbo since handing in my notice to the department, waiting for the changes in hours to kick in so I can actually get started. My first task is going to be launching a new portfolio website.
