DH has felt he was being called to preach since he was 12 years old. He just doesn't feel lead to go to Bible College, and feels more like he should do it the way it was done for centuries. (Study the bible and rely on God to give him the message he is supposed to share.) Well, lately he has been working on sermon outlines, but never mentioned it to anyone but me.
Friday night we went to a Fellowship meeting at the community center and a local pastor asked DH if he would be willing to fill in from time to time at a local church that is without a minister. He was really kind of shocked that they approached him, so he hesitated, but the minister wrote down his number and said for us to give him a call when DH was ready to fill in. He then said, "I know you haven't been to Bible College, but I also know that when you were just a little boy God revealed to me that you were going to be a minister one day, and I know He'll give you the right message. Just pray about it and then give me a call." This guy had told my in-laws more than 20 years ago that DH was going to be a great minister one day.
I am so excited about the doors that I see God opening for DH and for others in our area. I don't know when he will actually be preaching for the first time, but I'm sure it will be soon. I just couldn't help but share that news.
I'm really excited about it. The church they want him to preach in occasionally is a very small church with mostly elderly people in it, but everyone has to start somewhere, right? He's nervous, but excited.
Also, Sunday night our preacher hinted around about letting DH deliver a message there once in a while too! DH really believes that eventually he will be the minister at that church (the one we attend now), and we are both thrilled to see these doors opening up to him!
