Hi my name is Kerstin and I'm new to this board. My online friend Amanda told me about it and I'm glad she did.
Like I said in my previous posting (prayer request) I'm still learning to write in English, so please be patient with me. I'm married to an American Soldier. We're currently stationed in Germany, only about 30 minutes away from my hometown. Before that we lived in beautiful Colorado for two years. It was at that time when my faith grew stronger. I was very homesick for a while and a friend of mine gave me Joel Osteens first book. As soon as I started reading it something changed on the inside of me. A few month ago I joined PWOC and I love our bible studies.
Hm, what else can I say about me, I am 34 years young , my husbands name is Daniel, we have to dogs (Angel and Charlie), I like to x-stitch, I like to watch God TV (especially Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen) and I like to talk.
Kerstin!!! I'm Amanda, from the Galatians blog! It's so good to finally be able to really chat & get to know you! I see you are finding your way around just fine! Be sure to check out TTC w/ MA (Trying to Conceive with Medical Assistance) as well since I see that you have had to use Clomid. Also check out TTC w/ PCOS. I see you've already found TTC w/ MFI.
You know, we're about the same age & & have been TTC for about the same amount of time. I'm 33, will be 34 in March, DH is 43 & actually has some German ancestry. We've been TTC now for 4, almost 5 years. We started sometime in 2006. I'm gonna bump up some infertility related posts on here for you.
The short version of my story (the long version IS my blog) is that we've been TTC now for 4 years. In that time I have done 5 cycles of Clomid & one actually worked but unfortunately we had a m/c last year. We were then referred to an RE & I think you know the rest. Oh & I'm hypothyroid.
I could probably keep talking but I think I need to get ready & go buy groceries sometime this morning! I'm so glad you're here!
Thank you for the nice welcome Amanda. I was looking for a board like this for a while now, so thanks again for telling me about it.
There is so much to read for me, finally a place where I'm not the only one who is going through all the pain that PCOS brings (most of my friends don't unterstand).
I love uplifting songs, I'm going to download some of the songs later. While I'm waiting is on of my favorite songs, it gives me so much hope.
I love your blinkies, especially the 'Secretly hoping for twins'. I'm a twin myself and I would like to have twins. =)
Can you please tell me what 'hypothyroid' means. I looked it up in my dictionary, but couldn't find it.
Do you know from which part of Germany your husbands family is?
You know I have a very close IRL friend who has PCOS.
Another song that has recently became VERY close to me is What it Feels Like by FFH since as a friend said & it makes sense that this is my wilderness.
Oh I know... I sooooooooooooo want boy/girl twins. I wanted 2 back when I started this journey, now I will be grateful for 1 so twins would be PERFECT. Plus once we get 1 out of this I kinda doubt I'll seek any more MA since this is really for the birds! How cool is it that you are a twin... identical or fraternal?
Hypothyroid = Hypothyroidism... my thyroid doesn't produce enough thyroid hormone so I have to take thyroid hormones to make up for what my thyroid doesn't produce. Thyroid problems can & do cause IF (as well as m/c). Anyone who is TTC should get their thyroid tested just to see if they have an issue. Thyroid issues are sooooooooooooooo common. And thyroid issues can be bad during pg. Here's a few links about it...
Not sure about where exactly but I know both sides of his family (mom & dad) have German.
Oh I forgot to mention earlier that with MFI, have you thought about DH taking Clomid. I've heard that it increases men's sperm count. Of course the TTC w/ MFI would be much more help with all areas MFI than I. But I know 2 friend's IRL, whose husbands took Clomid to improve count so I thought I'd throw that out there.
Oh & if you need any help finding your way around don't be afraid to ask! And I forgot to mention before (since I already kinda know you)... feel free to add yourself/family to our anniversary/birthday stickie above!
I think I need to go back to your blog to look at the list with all the abbreviations. I'm on my way to dinner with my friend Daniela (since my husband is in the hospital, he had surgery on his foot), so I'm going to answer you later or tomorrow. Thank you for all the information, I can see that I'm finally at the right place.
My blog does have a few but there are tons that it doesn't have! Another hint is to hover your mouse over the acronym & often you'll see a tool tip pop up telling you the meaning of that acronym. Not all acronyms have this but many do... the admins are great around here & try to make this the easiest & friendliest site on the web!
Since you're new, here are 2 more hints (that I had to learn the hard way)...
To see a list of all your "subscriptions," (i.e. topics you've replied to) so that you can easily see what others are saying & even reply to a reply on that thread... at the top where you see JustMommies Message Boards, you'll notice right below that a list, "Home, User CP, FAQ, etc, etc, etc." Click on "Quick Links," then "Subscribed Topics." I look at this list every day to see what topics I have commented on that have been commented on after me... that way I can respond more if I want.
When you're on a board, CP for example, you notice the little envelopes on the left. Well if the envelope has an arrow in front of it, that means you have responded in that thread. This is useful if you want to read those posts that you may not have read yet. This is very useful when/if you ever host a board.
Thank you Shannon, I'll try to write a little bit more about me. =)
We are fraternal twins. My mom had ovaritis at the time she got pregnant, and one of the doctors said that's the reason we are twins. I don't know if that's true or not. But it also runs in the family.
I'll have my thyroid tested, my mom and my sister had some problems with it. I think one of the doctors mentioned it to me, but I can't remember if the actually tested it.
One doctor already told DH that Clomid could increase his sperm count, but he wanted him to talk to a specialist first. I think we will give it a try. We need to make some changes for him anyway, the last two years were pretty tough on him. He was in a lot of pain and had to take a lot of pain medication. I just told a friend of mine that he is a tough cookie, lol. He walked around with a partially fractured foot for over a year, and he also had meniscus injury for almost a year. Before that he was close to a frozen shoulder. And all of that while he was serving in Iraq . He just now had the last surgery (the broken foot) and I pray that he'll be healthy from now on. He came back from the hospital today and will be home for a couple of weeks. I'm going to take extra special care of him.
Right now he's in bed watching TV with our two furry babies.
It feels like AF starts tomorrow or within the next days. I'm almost out of Naproxen (works best for me), so I have to call the clinic tomorrow. On Sept. 1 is my ultrasound appointment to see if my fibroid has gotten bigger since last year. I'm a little scared, since I already had one really huge fibroid in 2007. It was the size of a childs head . But even if .... I'm strong enough to handle it, after all I know who's watching over me.
Have a great Sunday, here in Germany it's almost Monday.
I already learned something new on here, until Sunday I didn't know what Softcups are . We will definitely give it a try.
I was confused when a friend of mine told me that I talk and think to much about my desire to have a baby. It looks like God doesn't agree with her, otherwise he wouldn't have told Amanda to tell me about his place.
He gives the childless woman a family,
making her a happy mother.
Praise the Lord!
Yeah, this place has GREAT information. I learned about softcups here too... haven't tried them. Oh & do you know about Pre-Seed... another GREAT tip for TTC! To be honest, like I've already said, I talk about it a lot. Our pastor said recently that we talk about what we are passionate about so it's only natural to talk about it b/c I know we are both passionate about it. I talk about IF & God, A LOT!
