OK, talked to City of Hope again. Over the next 3 weeks we will take 4-5 trips to Duarte for pre-transplant testing. If all goes as planned Joey will get his last chemo dose at Miller's on Sept 12 (or before) and will be admitted to CoH on Sept 26. On the 26th they will go in and remove his port, place a double lumen broviac, and the next day... Sept 27, Joey will begin the conditioning regimen. Then either the 6th or 7th of October, he will be infused with life saving marrow cells. Over the following few weeks we will need engraftment to take place and "grow cells, grow!". Around day 30, if all goes perfectly and we have NO complications, Joey will be discharged to Hospital Housing. We will be in hospital housing for about 70 days before we can look at bringing Joey home.
Before Joey comes home our home will need to be cleaned top to bottom, floors, carpets, walls, bedding, everything. When he comes home he will remain in isolation for a period of about 1 yr post transplant (give or take some, depending on how well he does). But next year at this time he will be disease free!
We've got so many folks here praying and believing that all goes smoothly.
