A Soldier's Thanksgiving

With bended knee and quivering lips
His prayers now were said
He thanked the Lord for safety
As on enemy's soil he tread

Grieving for the friend's he'd lost
They'd fought so hard and brave
He thanked Him even more so
For all the lives that God had saved

He thanked God for his freedom
For his family, church and home
He knew that when the war was o'er
He'd no longer have to roam

It was Thanksgiving after all
Far away from those held dear
So special thanks were said for them
Each remembrance brought them near

He felt God's arms around him
And he smiled as he said
"Thank You, God. I know You're here.
For without You, I'd be dead."

His amen said, he wiped a tear
On his feet, he stood to rise
With faith, not fear, he could go on
Because of Christ's great sacrifice

This year I will have thanksgiving
With you many miles away
I wish we lived closer
For this I always pray

I know the lord hears me
And right now I have to wait
For he has the perfect plan
And it wont be a moment late

Lately weve been tested
Going through many many trials
I wish my arms were longer
To hug you across all these miles

Even though I will be sad
With you not being here
I will be strong
And try not to shed a tear

I will be thankful
for I have been blessed
You are my mom
And to me you are the best

My mom moved to Texas in June and this will be a hard Holiday without her, we have always been very close. I hope to move there in May.

I'm not sure if I can do this . I'm still learning to write in English, but writing a poem or prayer is just to hard for me.

I thought about it, I may not be able to write a poem or prayer, but I can write about what I'm thankful for. I'll do it tomorrow, it's late here in Germany and I need to go to bed.

Lord my God
We call your name
when we are in pain and our heart aches
you answer and are never late

Lord my God
How often do we call your name
only to say how grateful we are?
Perhaps not as often this brings us to shame

Lord my God
Oh, how grateful we truly are
forgive us for our selfish ways
Blessed be your name!

Lord my God
Because of your grace
Is why we are saved
Thank you, now and forever with gratitude you are praised!

We don't do Thanksgiving in the UK so I don't feel I can write a poem or prayer about it, but I just wanted to say, these are great!

I am SO not a writer but I will try!

I am thankful for my family first and foremost
Without them in my life, I would be utter toast

I am thankful for my husband, how good he is to me
Without his love and affection, I would be up the proverbial tree

I am thankful for my son, with his smiling eyes and glee
Without him I could sleep, but what kind of life would that be

I am thankful for good food that we are able to have in plenty
Without food I would weigh less, maybe in pounds by twenty

I am thankful for my faith and the utter calm it brings
Without my having faith I would surely be hanging by strings

So share with your family and with others during these times
How grateful you are to have them and makes sure that it rhymes

Dear Lord,
Please help us to be thankful for all that we have and forget about that which we want. Help us to remember our health and our loved ones. We are grateful for the blessings you have bestowed upon us and look forward to the blessings to come each day living in your presence. Please bless our families and friends throughout this holiday season and the rest of the year.
Amen
