I used the NASB for study (I went to Bible College, and my professers would make us use that translation. Like the ESV and the KJV, it is a more literal translation.)
For personal reading, I love the NIV (but not the new one, I don't like that one at all because I memorized the old version and it is throwing me off!!)
I really don't care for the Message or the NLT because these are more loose translations/paraphrases and can cause one to think a passage means something else sometimes. But I do know many pastors love using these in their sermons to help make things more understandable - it's just not what I like due to my Bible background.

I use the Spirit-filled Life Bible which is NKJV. I love that version, and especially like all the "Kingdom Dynamics" and "Word Helps" etc. that they put in there (definitions from the original language from Strongs Concordance as well as background info. really brings it out).

I have a number of them. I like the NIV, This is the version my kids use too. I also use the New American Standard. I have a KJV but don't use it very much. I have a Living Bible. I use it at times for my 3ed -5th grade class because sometimes it makes things easier for the them to understand.
