I am not sure. I think the question would need to be more specific. I could very well answer yes or no to that one in my opinion

I will have to look up the verses I base this on later, but No. I believe Once saved Always Saved, however I do believe you can miss out on crowns and blessings that The Lord had for you.

I dont believe you can loose salvation. Salvation is not earned but gift of God for having in faith in Jesus Christ and believing he is your savior. I believe that if a person is united with Jesus Christ through entrusting faith, his or her eternal salvation is assured. Though the process of sanctification is on-going and life-long , salvation is assured because it is based not on an individual earning it through good works but on the perfect and finished work of Jesus Christ.

" For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. " Ephesians 2:8-10

I think in the sense of what the verse is saying - we're already chosen by God, so no we can't lose our salvation.

People who assume they are already saved and can't lose it and use it as a one-way ticket to do whatever...then either they can lose their salvation or they weren't chosen in the first place.

Does that make sense? I don't think I'm saying what I'm trying to say the right way LOL

Liza, makes perfect sense. I don't believe those people (who want to use their one way ticket to sin) were ever really saved to begin with b/c once you really give your heart to God & understand salvation you don't WANT to sin anymore.

Love that scripture Melissa. I agree that I don't believe you can lose your salvation.

Another scripture that I wanted to share...

John 10:28 (NIV) - I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

I feel guilty knowing I've sinned half the time. I feel like I spend most of my time repenting LOL

Umm...our church believes that you CAN lose your salvation...or, in other words, you can choose to turn your back on God and fall into apostasy. It is a conscious choice that you make, and so I don't mean you can unknowingly do something to lose your salvation. I don't know if I'm making sense or not...

I think it kinda goes along the same lines as the pp mentioned. Only, instead of never having really been saved, you have been saved, but then, for whatever reason, you decide you hate God and decide that you do not want to follow Him any more.

This is supposed to be worse than never having been saved in the first place, because you had a taste of the holy spirit and heaven and then throw it away.

I will keep searching to see if I can find the biblical support on this, we had a sermon on it years ago...

How do you UNBELIEVE? Once you profess that you believe that Jesus came and died for our sins then you are saved - no matter how far you stray from God. He always welcomes you back - Thankfully.

I was brought up in the Southern Baptist belief of once saved, always saved, and mostly adhere to that.

But not sure I fully adhere to that still. What azmomto4 was talking about was willingly walking away from God, once and for all. This goes back to a topic that we discussed on the board a while back. The "unpardonable sin" which I explained my belief and understanding of it (as limited as it may be) is fully and completely rejecting God. I am not talking a doubting, questioning, backsliding or giving up for a while or anything like that. This is a full out, hard hardheartedness steadfast refusal to acknowledge or want God in your life in any aspect at all. This would be committing "the unpardonable sin" in which there is no forgiveness for. So in this situation, and only this, yes you can reject your salvation. God is not going to force something upon you that you yourself has rejected. I don't believe this applies to 99.9% of the believers though. Or should I say they don't fall in this category.

I may be totally wrong on this. My beliefs are constantly growing.

I don't know why anyone would choose this route after experiencing the faithfulness and fullness of God.

Mattiez
