We dedicated our handicapped elevator making our church handicapped accessible (a 7 year project). Hubby spoke about the man with palsy, who had friends that brought him to Jesus, even though it required them to cut through the ceiling and lower him into the crowded building. He shared how we need to be like those friends who recognized the need and cared enough to put some action behind their prayers.

I really got a lot our of my women's bible study and church this week. I have already covered some in another thread but the other thing I really got a lot out of was preparing for kids church. A lot of times I learn more when I prepare a lesson than when I just listen to one. The kids I teacher are 3 - 5 grades.

The topic was Why Care about School. The curriculum I am using has good topics but are often weak in relating them and linking to the bible. So I start digging and doing my research. There were a couple vs. in proverbs that talk about gaining knowledge and wisdom. But that was about it. I kept getting a real strong pull/ direction from God back to the Book of Wisdom. The Book of Wisdom is not in the Protestant bible, but in the Catholic bible. It is a book written by King Solomon about the vast wisdom that God gave him. It's an awesome book and it talks so much about wisdom and learning and how all things are under the authority of God.

I had a lot of conflict using this, but I told everyone what the book was and the full backgroud of the book before using it. I know I did the right thing, but I am kind of backing up waiting for repercussions from someone.

I think we (protestants) kind of got jipped on this one. We get King Solomon's love poems. (which we, pruddy people, probably need) but the Catholics get a whole book of wisdom, written by the wisest man to every live. Hmmmmmm

Anyway I learned a lot from it.

Interesting Mattiez... I've always kinda wondered about the whole difference w/ Catholic Bibles & all.

So my notes from Sunday...

"The Jesus Supremacy, Deceived Again?"
Colossians 2:1-10

Defeating Deception:
  1. Unpack the treasure
    • Holy Spirit is a guide to help us unpack the treasure of the Bible.
    • I can do everything that Christ wants me to. (Phillipians 4:13)
  2. Take root (Colossians 2:6-7)
    • Take root in Jesus Christ - We need to know what we believe.
    • Jesus should encompass every part of our life.
    • Don't buy into the lie that "all roads lead to heaven."
  3. Live/Grow in Christ (Colossians 2:6)
  4. Know our nature (Colossians 2:8)
    Human tradition has influenced:
    • Jehovah's Witness (Jesus isn't God)
    • Mormons (Joseph Smith has been given additional knowledge leading to the Book of Mormon)
    • Muslims (Muhammad is equal to Jesus)
  5. Count our blessings (Colossians 2:10)
    Quit being negative.

Don't crack the door. Satan is beating it in. 4.5 million people today are deceived.

In Christ we have been given fullness.

I have stopped taking notes on Sundays. Jocy is just whiny and clingy. I hear bits and pieces of the sermon though.

It was about how we must not give in the devil and resist all temptation.

I should post wed night bible study since I always take notes because Jocy goes to kid church fine on wed but not sun.

You should, Melissa.

Why does Jocy not go to kids church on Sun? Are there too many kids in there & it scares her or something???
