Last night, around bed time for the kids, we all had been jumping around and playing and getting rowdy. My DS said 'lets go outside and watch the rain". (It was raining pretty hard) I thought it would be a good way to calm down before bed. So we all go outside, sit on our tiny front stoop with the rain coming down. We are looking around at our neighborhood Christmas lights, (our neighborhood really decorates) through the blur of the rain. It was beautiful and calming. My DD starts singing Christmas carols and we all join in robustly (the sound of the rain would surly drown us out). We continued singing and watching the rain until she started singing Silent Night. We sang all the verses we knew and there was an incredible calmness and peace. Then we all went inside and the kids went to bed.
I couldn't plan moments like that if I tried. If you saw it in a movie you would have said it was too scripted but wow, it was really special.
I love times like that! Our family used to get together and sing quite often, but haven't in a long time. Makes me sad. I think hubby is wanting to sing at his mom's this year, which will be a new thing over there, but I'm all for it!
What a cool memory, M. You should journal it or something.
Much thanks to Alethia for my beautiful siggie and tags!!
