I have two things

1 - I am participating in baptism this weekend. My parents aren't very supportive of my decision to live a Christ-centered life and so I wanted to share with others who would see the benefits of this choice.

2 - Because I was not raised in a Christ-centered home and I work during the 'regular business hours' of the church I attend, I have just a general confusion. How do I turn the focus of my home into a Christ-centered home? I don't want to push too much with my 5 year old but I also want her to make conscious decisions and be able to know what God would want her to do. Does anyone have any ideas??

I would just start making it part of your daily lives. We pray before every meal or any kind of special occasion. Every night part of our bedtime routine is reading a Bible story to Maddie. Even though she is too young to understand it right now, we want to make it a routine in our house and something we can continue through her childhood. We have a children's picture Bible that we just started at the beginning and are working our way through it. With your 5 yr. old you could go a lot more in depth with a discussion and that type of thing. We also say a prayer before bedtime every night. When Maddie gets older we plan to take her to Sunday school, VBS, youth club, and things like that with the church.

Welcome, Glad you stop in here.

I agree with the above. First and most important is teaching them to pray every night and during dinner.

Welcome and congrats!!

I think what's posted above is great, also!

I think it's SUPER important to be reading the Bible. Every day, if at all possible. There are "One Year Bibles" that are dated and laid out for you, or there are "schedules" all over the internet. Start with Matthew or Romans and work mostly in the New Testament. It's okay if you don't understand every passage, or every verse, or whatever. Pray before you sit down to read that God would open your understanding and show you His will for your life through His Word -- your simple act of faith in doing this opens the door to Him to show and teach you so much! I really think this is THE most important thing!!!

The other super important thing is to be praying. Pray when you get up, pray when you eat, pray before you go to bed. Even something as simple as, okay God I'm up now - please help me through the day and show me how to live today for You. Or, please bless this food so it nourishes my body and use my body to honor You. Maybe... Thank you for this day; bring me safely through the night, protect me, guide me, and help me learn to live as You would want me to. ((And you can totally copy those or tweak them or throw them out if you want. LOL))

I'm excited for you! I hope you come in here regularly! I would love to answer any questions you have, help you find things in scripture, whatever! New Christians have an excitement that a lot of us who've been there a long time seem to lose sometimes. I think your being on this board will be a great thing! I can't wait to get to know you!
