What happens when a child dies before they are old enough to really understand and accept Christ as their Savior? Or people who are mentally disabled? Do they all go to heaven? Hell? Or does it depend on the parents?

Absolutely I believe they go to Heaven. We are each judged for our actions based on our understanding. We would not have a loving, just God if he punished those who weren't capable of understanding!

Heaven. If they can't really understand and accept Jesus, they haven't reached the age of accountability and they aren't held accountable.

God is omniscient and knows our beginning to our end. Whether we live a short life or a long one, He knows our hearts. I'm actually looking up verses about children right now.....

Ezekiel 18 talks about the Jews saying a son is guilty for his father's sins but God says to them, (starting verse 19)
"When the son has done what is just and right, and has been careful to observe all my statutes, he shall surely live. The soul who SINS shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon HIMSELF, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon HIMSELF." <---So this clearly says whether the parents are "righteous" or not doesn't have any bearing on the child being righteous (or wicked). Each soul makes its own decision.

Proverbs 20:9 says "Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure and whether it be right"

Exodus 22:22 says "You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry, and my wrath will burn..."

Deuteronomy 10: 18 "He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow..."

Job 29:12 12 "Because I delivered the poor that cried,

and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him." (I would assume this applies to mentally disabled, etc.)

Psalm 27:10 10 When my father and my mother forsake me,

then the Lord will take me up.

My husband says they go to the grave until the rapture. Then judgement. Do not know if this is true. I do not think about this because it makes my head hurt. I just go along with what he says or the church. He is more knowledgeable than I on all things.
