All this week . We just picked the garden, Tonight is our 1st frost. So I will be making Cranberry jam, salsa, sandwich spread, Tomato soup, spagetti sauce....and I think that is all. I calculate that I have 300 lbs of tomatos, so this may take awhile

Teach me!!! We have a summer garden and end up throwing away a lot of tomatoes because if we dont eat them sliced/fresh then we don't eat them at all. I need lessons!!! I want to plant a fall/winter garden but just don't know...being preggo and all. I'm afraid it will just end up neglected. I k ow there's always next year...

You're my hero. I mean it. Everyone that a) has a large garden and b) actually processes all of it is.

I don't fit the mold, I am a farmwife and have a large family and I do have stuff in my garden, but I don't love it and I don't know how to make all that stuff good enough so we'll actually eat it. I only grow tomatoes that are little, and we eat all of them.

You will feel very accomplished when you're done!

You are awesome! We don't have a garden. We've been sort of talking about having one. I'm just not sure if I'm up for the challenge.

The book Square Foot Gardening helped me get started! I also have a print out from our state cooperative extension that tells what month to plant what plants in your zone.

Sounds like you will be busy, but your house will smell amazing! We just built our new garden bed but I am waiting to get the dirt for it still. Lucky for me it is growing season year-round in Hawaii lol.

I have not ried the spagetti sauce yet, so this is a 1st for me too. Salsa and sandwich spead I prep at night when the kids are asleep then it has to sit overnight to drain, then I can in the morn before school starts. So it is a long process but this way everything gets done.

It is awsome to know that my garden will feed us for the winter. I know where my food came from and what is in it !! We also have our own beef and buy our chickens from friends. Maybe that is the farmers in us to provide for ourselfs.

Wow!! I'm impressed! I have always wished I could grow my own food but sadly I'm all black thumbs. I'll just have to live vicariously through you. Let us know how the spagetti sauce and everything else turns out. Sounds delicious!!

OMG, bows head! That sounds incredible! My mom has an amazing garden we call "Gaga's Garden." (that's my kids name for her) She gives us fresh squash, broccolli (which i am so spoiled on), tomatoes, green beans, ...herbs! I WOULD LOVE to be able to garden like this but I haven' been too disciplined and have killed a bunch of poor innocent plants. However, I do have a nice pepper plant doing well outside and it makes me quite happy. I'm kind of a health nut in terms of all those preservatives, hormones, and pesticides so I like my food to be as fresh, unprocessed, and clean as possible. (and by clean I don't mean free of all those yucky chemicals)

Nothing better than harvesting, or having Gaga harvest for now, fresh veggies and bringing them straight home!! One day I'll have my own garden....my little girls LOVE to go picking in their grandmas garden....
