Since we started homeschool this week, we also started memory verses. I haven't done this at home before. We memorized a passage in Exodus last year for Classical Conversations (our homeschool group) but we haven't memorized verses for ourselves. We are starting with John 3:16 since it is the most well known verse and all! I'm a little ashamed that my 8 year old doesn't already know this verse. I think the next two will be 1 Corinthians 13 (the love chapter) and Galatians 5 (the fruits of the spirit). My son seems to struggle the most with truly loving others, (not being selfish, rude and impatient). The fruits of the spirit address these same issues and more.

Anyone else memorizing scripture or planning to some day? Where will you start?

I personally make memorizing scripture a regular part of my bible reading. Whenever a piece of scripture stands out to me as I'm reading I make note of it and will spend time afterwards memorizing it. Being able to memorize scripture is very important, especially when it comes to sharing your faith with others and being able to clearly sharing the truth of God's word.
