What avenue/route (whatever you want to call it) did you take to find an adoptive family for your baby? Did you answer ads in the paper, contact an adoption agency or a local attorney......What did you do?
I went through an agency.
Personally, looking through ads in papers and online kinda creeped me out. It seemed like I was selling my baby, and trying to find someone to buy her. Does that make sense? Going through an agency made it feel more personal. I also took comfort knowing that my counselor had met all the hopeful adoptive parents, and knew for a fact they took the required classes.
My family contacted a local lawyer who handled private adoption, but the adoptive family went through an agency. I know the lawyer was in contact with adoption agencies, and I picked my birthson's family that way. I was also creeped out by looking through ads in the paper, and felt the same way, like I was selling my baby. I liked looking through parent profiles better, as it was all matter of fact, and not like a dating agency. The adoptive parents used an agency in NY.
