After I cast a spell, and write it if its a new one down in my book of shadows, say my farewells and uncast my circle, I feel drained for about an hour and a half. i actually have to go and relax. I did some research on it and really can't find too much. this has actually just started happening recently. usually i don't feel so tired.

Sounds to me like an issue with grounding and centering before the ritual. If you don't ground and center before a ritual, I would look into that. I would assume since it is a recent issue you have been performing more demanding rituals? It sounds like you are tapping into your own energy to perform the magic rather than tapping into universal energy/earth energy, etc. Grounding and centering should help you create the distinction which would make it more difficult for you to tap into your own energy. Also a bit of energy raising with a candle at the beginning of the spell might help you generate more energy for your task. If you are performing a candle spell, use a separate candle specifically to assist with raising energy. Make it part of your intent during the spell to use energy provided by the universe (or whatever source you use). Also make certain you ground and center at the end of your spell before breaking the circle.

If you have been grounding and centering and still feel drained, perhaps it is time to revisit your G&C technique. I've had to amp my own G&C up a few times through meditating on increasing my skills.

That is really great advice. I would agree on it being a grounding issue. Being a crystal person I tend to use shaman stones or hematite to ground. And drinking plenty of water is also a good idea.
