Today I put together my doorway ward, with some wheat I've had for a while (store baught) and some lavendar that my mom and I picked at a lavender farm not to far from my home.

Recently I picked up the book
Cottage Witchery, Natural Magick for Hearth and Home ~ Ellen Dugan

And in it she has a neat little Warding doorway chant/spell that I thought I'd share here.

Warding Swag Chant~

"Magical herbs, flowers and ribbons make up this warding spell
Alert me to danger and protect my home that has loved me so well
By the magick of plants, I ask to be given a tweak
May this warding spell hold true day tto day and week to week.
For the good of all, with harm to none;
By flower and leaf this spell is done!"

You say the spell as you are preparing the swag or attaching it to the entrance way (she suggests above the door, but I already had my broom above the door to sweep out the negative energy as you enter the home, so that is why mine isn't placed above the door.). This speific spell is asking for an alert in the form of a tweak (gut feeling) when someone or something has entered that is unwanted. I really thought it was a very good warding spell and that is why I thought I'd share it with you all

I used dried Wheat and Lavendar because that is what I had on hand, but you can always go out and buy dried herbs (still on the stem) to use to make your own warding spell. Remember the herbs have thier own magical properties as well as the colors of the ribbon you use to put it together. My ward is for Protection and Prosperity.

here are some pictures to share!

That looks beautiful Megan!

I'm planning on doing something like that, I don't know how to explain what my craft is so I'll just have to post it after I do it. Yours is so lovely! Thanks for sharing that chant, I will use that

I was wondering the same thing.. where would I look for dried flowers? Do we just need to get fresh ones and hang them to dry them out?

Yes. Or even better, grow them yourself

Well you can do that, or there are plenty of places online that you can buy dried flowers from , I really like Dried Flowers Direct Ships Wholesale Dried Flowers, Wreaths and Lavender Bud .

But you can also usually find them in some craft stores that carry fake flowers, usually they'll have a section of dried flowers as well!

This may be a silly question.. and I think I already know the answer, but can you use fabricated flowers?

I guess you could, but I'm not sure on that because the energy from the plastic/fiber is different and I'd have to say that you wouldn't get the fragrance that the dried flowers give off. Also I've found that sometimes it is cheaper to get dried flowers than to get the fabricated/fake flowers.

While it may look nice, it will not have the same energy to it.
